I’m working on the only playlist that you’ll ever need. It’s still a work in progress. Suggestions welcome.

Wow, this is good. This Bob Dylan tribute album is full of really great stuff and really weird, kinda terrible stuff.

Fiona Apple, “Every Single Night”
From her forthcoming album, The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do.
Yep that’s the name of the album. And I can’t wait for it. This song is so good.

Our Record Store Day haul. (Taken with instagram)
What do we have here? Clockwise from the top left:
1. The Empire Records Soundtrack, first time ever released on vinyl.
2. Atmosphere / The Uncluded (Aesop Rock & Kimya Dawson) split single picture disc.
3. Buck Owens coloring book. This is my favorite Record Store Day find. It’s a replica of a Buck Owens coloring book from 1970 and includes a flexi-disc EP (which really kind of freaks me out) in red, white, or blue (mine’s white) and features four tracks from Buck Owens “Live” At The White House from 1968, which will be released on vinyl soon.
4. Mastodon/Feist split single. Features Mastodon covering Feist’s “A Commotion” and Feist coveing Mastodon’s “Black Tongue.” Should be interesting. Mastodon released a similar single today with The Flamming Lips.
5. Carolina Chocolate Drops/Run DMC, “You Be Illin”. One side contains the original, the other side contains the Choclate Drops’ cover of the song.
There were a lot of other items I would’ve liked to have gotten, but I spent about $80 on all this as it is and had to call it a day. My brother also picked up the last copy of the White Stripes single that came out today for me so I’ll have that one soon too.

Justin Robinson and the Mary Annettes, “Vultures”
I was kind of bummed with Justin Robinson left the Carolina Chocolate Drops last year since he was a major influence on that band’s sound (they’ve since done pretty well with their new lineup; their latest album is incredible) but I really like the sound of his new project. This is really excellent stuff.
The Blind Boys of Alabama, “Jesus Built a Bridge to Heaven”
Happy Good Friday, everyone!
