I like to watch things and eat stuff.
Trailer: RIDDICK.
This looks so much better than I was expecting. I love, love, love Pitch Black, but was sufficiently underwhelmed by The Chronicles of Riddick.
And so were a lot of other people, which made another Riddick movie (which has been in the works for nine (!) years) seemingly unlikely. Luckily for all of us, Vin Diesel is one determined dude.
And it looks pretty great.
Ron Perlman: One Heck Of A Swell Guy
Little Zachary wanted to meet Hellboy and become Hellboy himself. The Make-A-Wish Foundation, special effects studio Spectral Motion, and Ron Perlman made it happen. Not only that, but Ron Perlman bought everyone burgers, fries, and shakes!

Ron Perlman rocks for doing this and this kid rocks for wanting to meet Hellboy.
Finally. A trailer for Lucky McKee and Jack Ketchum’s “The Woman”.

Yes. A trailer, finally. Although, whoever encoded this one should be fired. It looks horrible. Hopefully we can see a nice HD/HQ version soon—maybe on iTunes?
So how do we feel about Spike Lee remaking Oldboy? While I’m an avid fan of many of Lee’s films, I still harbor concern for the authenticity an American take on this story will lend—furthermore, whether a typical American audience can stomach it. However, I’m reminded of the grittiness of Summer of Sam and The 25th Hour and there’s a little hope in me yet that Spike Lee will pull through on this one. I guess we’ll find out next year.
I’m curious about it. If OLDBOY is destined to be remade, then I’d rather somebody with Lee’s sensibilities tackle it than someone like, say, Spielberg, who was previously attached to the project. I think Lee might have a tendency to stick closer to the original source material, something that’s going to be important if the remake is going to have any impact at all. I know that Will Smith was originally rumored to play the lead (during the Spielberg development) but I imagine that if he thought DJANGO UNCHAINED was too rough, then he won’t wanna touch OLDBOY either. Current rumor is that Josh Brolin is in early talks to star, and that’s casting I can get behind. I’ll wait to pass judgment once the film comes out.
