Trailer: KYOSHINHEI TOKYO NI ARAWARU (GIANT GOT WARRIOR APPEARS IN TOKYO)
This short is Studio Ghibli’s first foray into live-action, and was directed by Evangelion director Hideaki Anno for an exhibition highlighting the work of Anno (who was a key animator on Hayao Miyazaki’s Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, on which the creatures depicted here on based).
The entire short (which will run 5-10 minutes in length) was reportedly created entirely without the aid of CGI, using old-school miniatures.
I can’t wait to see the entire short, and hope that it one day becomes a full-length feature.
