Teaser Trailer: CARRIE.

Ugh.

I have more faith in this than I do in many other remakes, if only because of the pedigree involved. I think that Chloe Grace Moretz is a great actress and will only get better with age, and it’s nice to see Boys Don’t Cry director Kimberly Peirce back after a five year absence. And let’s face it: Julianne Moore as Mrs. White is damn near perfect casting.

But there’s also the main issue that I have with many remakes: What’s the point? DePalma’s film is a classic and nobody, not even an actress with Moretz’s talent, is going to be able to stand is Sissy Spacek’s shoes.

Hopefully I’m wrong about this. Hopefully Peirce chose this project because she’s got something meaningful to say. This trailer doesn’t tell us a whole lot, so I’ll reserve judgment until we get a better idea of the tone of the film.
